Mitsubishi Motors Australia marks a new era of electrification with All-New ASX VR-e BEV

From Mitsubishi Motors Australia Press Release

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) is proud to introduce the fully electric ASX VR-e to its vehicle lineup in Q4, 2026.

The Mitsubishi ASX VR-e represents a new era of electrification within the Mitsubishi Motors range in Australia, leveraging the brand’s strong partnership with Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co. Ltd (Foxtron) to deliver a sophisticated, tech-driven battery electric vehicle (BEV) to the market.

This new model carries the ‘ASX’ (Active Sports Crossover) name – one that has a long- established presence on Australian roads as a popular compact SUV. The ‘VR-e’ designation is a nod to the legendary Galant VR-4, one of Mitsubishi Motors’ iconic high-performance sports sedans.

ASX VR-e captures the essence of its namesake through its sporty performance and responsive handling – all made possible through extensive local testing and tuning by Mitsubishi Motors global and regional teams.

Underpinned by a sleek, Pininfarina-designed vehicle platform, ASX VR-e exhibits signature Mitsubishi styling elements through the front and rear fascia, wheels and interior trim.

ASX VR-e’s exterior design incorporates several key features to achieve optimal aerodynamic efficiency, including a distinctive S-Duct to channel airflow from the centre of the front bumper over the hood surface, and active grille shutters to reduce drag according to driving conditions.

The All-New ASX VR-e will debut in Australia under four model variants: LS, ASPIRE, EXCEED and GSR.

“ASX VR-e marks a significant milestone in our refreshed Mitsubishi range as the first BEV since the i-MiEV – Australia’s first mass-produced electric vehicle,” said MMAL CEO, Shunichi Kihara.

“The new Mitsubishi ASX VR-e continues this path of innovation with an immersive infotainment system, bold design and excellent electric driving performance.

“It joins an evolving multi-powertrain vehicle lineup designed and tuned with Australian lifestyles in mind as part of our Momentum 2030 plan – which will see the electrification of new models in the years to come.”
